About Troy Museum
Troy Museum
The museum occupies 11,200 square metres, with 3,000 square metres dedicated to exhibition space. Visitors descend via a sloping ramp that connects three levels of galleries. The ramp walls tell the story of Troy's nine main civilisation layers through grave markers, statues and reconstructed scenes.
The collection spans Paleolithic tools, stone sculptures, sarcophagi, inscriptions, altars, ceramics, metal vessels, gold objects, weapons, coins, bone implements, glass bracelets and decorative items. The outdoor garden displays stone works, sarcophagi, columns and capitals arranged in harmony with the landscape.
The museum organises its narrative across seven themes: Archaeology of the Troad Region, Troy's Bronze Age, the Iliad and the Trojan War, the Troad and Ilion in Antiquity, the Byzantine and Ottoman periods, the history of archaeology, and Troy's legacy. Interactive displays include dioramas, touch-screen terminals and animations. Audio guide services are available.
